The Real Cost of Free Plugins

Free plugins can cost you in unexpected ways. Here's what you should know before hitting 'install'.

Free plugins from the WordPress repository are great—until they're not. I've seen clients lose sales because a free plugin stopped being updated, broke after a WordPress update, or had a security vulnerability.

Free often means the developer has no incentive to maintain it long-term. They may abandon the project, leaving you with a ticking time bomb. Premium plugins (even cheap ones) typically come with guaranteed updates and support.

Consider the real cost: your time troubleshooting, lost revenue during downtime, and the risk of a security breach. Sometimes paying $29 for a plugin is the cheapest option in the long run.
